DOCUMENTS

JLS Aviation operates under the guidelines of several document that describe our operational and maintenance procedures.

The first of these is the Operations SOP. It Is the governing document for day to day operations and provides general guidelines for Flight School operations. It does not replace FAA regulations of operations consistent with the Aeronautical Information Manual.

The current Operations SOP is dated 15 February 2009 and is generally reviewed and updated annually, There is also a requirement to take a short quiz on the SOP at least every two years, which can be downloaded her as the SOP Quiz. Suggestions for additions, deletions or changes may be forwarded using the JLSAVIATION@COX.NET address.

Operations and Maintenance SOP's are available for downloading.

Additionally, the Flight School uses a Maintenance SOP that outlines the general procedures for reviewing maintenance documents, reporting items needing repair and determining the airworthiness status of the aircraft. The current maintenance SOP is dated 27 November 2007 and is also reviewed annually.

The flight schools uses aircraft checklists for each aircraft and are tailored for each one.

The check lists currently in use are for a C172, C172M, C152 and Piper Arrow.  These are the same check lists that are used in the aircraft. Any discrepancies or suggestions should be directed to the owner or Chief Instructor

Also available are the aircraft questionnaires for the C172, C152 and Piper Arrow.  Each pilot must complete a questionnaire for each aircraft type. Pilots should download the questionnaire and have it completed for the instructor prior to the check ride.

Weight and balance information is also available for several aircraft. Data for both C172M aircraft (N61701 and N61954), the C172N (N1464E and N4789G)C152, as well as the Piper Arrow is contained on the links above. Pilots are cautioned to consult the Aircraft Flight Manual specific for each aircraft as the only official source for weight and balance information. The links above may serve to assist in flight planning.

The Flight School also provides other documents that may be helpful, including a Density Altitude Chart and an Aircraft Performance Chart.
